Let’s be honest, there are a lot of WordPress themes out there. Some of them are free; some of them are paid. Some of them have drag-and-drop builders while others don’t. With so many options, how do you know which one to pick? Divi by Elegant Themes is my favorite pre-built WordPress theme, and I’ll tell you why.
Why Use a Pre-Built Theme?
Basically, it can save a lot of money. If you don’t have the budget for a custom built site, buying a theme is your best option.
Why I Love Divi
It is so flexible.
You can add rows and columns to your heart’s content. If you need to use lots of pictures, you can. If you don’t have any pictures, you can still create a nice-looking site. If you have a lot of text, great! If you only have a few sentences, okay! While the Divi theme doesn’t allow for complete customizations, it provides a lot of control.
It is well-maintained.
Anytime you’re looking to buy a pre-built theme, you want to make sure it’s being maintained. Things change all the time with WordPress (and the internet, in general), and a great theme needs maintenance. Elegant Themes is one of the oldest theme shops, and it has a great reputation. They release updates quickly, and they’ve never let me down.
It has split testing built in.
Split, or a/b, testing is something everyone should be using. If you need your website to convert, you want to be split testing headlines and button placement and layout of your crucial pages. Divi has split testing built-in, and it’s one of the best features.
It has a visual builder, but you don’t have to use it.
Divi has a visual builder, so you can edit directly in the formatted page, but unlike other builder themes, Divi doesn’t force you to use the visual builder. If you’re more comfortable working in the traditional WordPress editor, you can.
It has so many modules.
Buttons, accordions, tabs, testimonials, photo galleries, videos, sliders, and so much more. Traditionally, you’d need a plugin for a lot of these features. Not with Divi!
It does full-width, parallax sections.
It’s pretty. If you’re into full-width imagery and sections that move independently of other sections, Divi can do it.
It does video well.
Video is great. Whether you want to use a background video to convey atmosphere and personality or a foreground video to explain a service, Divi has great video modules. Just make sure your videos are optimized for the web!
The support is amazing.
Elegant Themes has incredible support. If something isn’t working correctly or if you want to customize something, they will help you quickly and pleasantly.
It plays well with others.
I have never had an issue with Divi conflicting with other plugins. This can sometimes be a problem with themes, which is one of the reasons you want to make sure the theme is well-maintained and offers great support.
It lets you save parts for reuse.
Are you interested in reusing sections, e.g. a call-to-action or e-newsletter subscription, across multiple pages? Divi can do it! Saving and reusing modules, rows, sections, and whole page layouts is simple with Divi. It can be very very handy.
